Charles Licastro

Civic Engagement

Charles Licastro grew up in a neighborhood where everyone knew each other. Families lived on the same block and students grew up through school together. Charles has taken his sense of community with him throughout his life.

Growing up in Garfield, New Jersey, Charles Licastro was surrounded by builders and masons. Both his uncle and his grandfather were builders and masons with his uncle taking up the trade to become a general contractor and builder. As a matter of fact, Charles grew up with his family essentially located all on the same block. In the 1950’s and 1960’s, Charles’ grandparents had their own convenience store. Locally, his grandmother was known as the “bleach lady,” as she would sell bleach to the entire neighborhood and Charles would deliver the gallon bottles.

Having these local ties instilled from early on in life has helped Charles Licastro become the community man he is today. Charles’ cousin, Carmine, had a cabinet shop when Charles was growing up and that provided an outlet for Charles to learn about the business. It appeared that Charles was a natural from the start and was able to learn so much about cabinet making. This lifelong learning has pushed Charles to help others.

More than anything, Charles Licastro values family and community. Growing up in Garfield, Charles spent much of his time within the large Italian community that flourished there. It was here that a sense of community pride and a commitment to helping others succeed was deeply instilled in his core values. While being raised in a family of five children, it can be challenging to stand out as an individual. Mr. Licastro made his mark by continuing the tradition of assisting those around him and rising above all obstacles in order to become a better person not for himself but for his community.

Currently, Charles Licastro runs the kitchen and bath business he founded many years ago. He specializes in all aspects of building especially remodeling, plumbing, electricity, planning, and overall construction to name just a few. Charles and his company have established a reputation for being a community favorite due to their engagement in the community and high-quality work.
